Directed by Mehdi Zamanpour-Kiasari, the 25-minute documentary will be among the works to hit the screen at the Short Filme Programme ISA II section of the 17th edition of the Austrian fest.
The short film is a delicate narrative of the life of two children named 'Abolfazl' and 'Setayesh' who experience a different life.
'Water, Wind, Dust, Bread', which took more than a year to produce, shows life in Fahraj Village of Iran’s Yazd Province.
In the Iranian desert, Abolfazl and Setayesh swing between the date palms or climb on windswept rocks. While the young Abolfazl masters his life independently and adventurously despite missing both hands, his friend Setayesh is confronted with another insurmountable limit.
The film has already been shown at a number of global events, including the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in Greece, the Children’s Film Festival Seattle in the US, and the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, where it won the Special Jury award.
The ETHNOCINECA is a unique film festival in the city of Vienna which is dedicated to anthropological themes and topics.
The event intends to provide a platform for all media-artists and filmmakers, who concentrate on anthropological issues like home, otherness, migration, oppression, liberation, poverty etc. to introduce their works to a broader audience.
This year’s edition of the festival is slated for May 4-11.
